I already use solar power for my hot water system, which I had installed by a firm of experts and was relatively costly. For whatever reason I was sure that wind power would be less costly, how wrong I was.
After getting several quotations from local contractors, which only went to prove that I couldn’t afford a prepared built wind generator, I was on the edge of thinking that I would have to forget the entire concept and would tolerate the ever increasing power charges for the foreseeable future.
Before giving up altogether I decided to take another look on the web for any other possibilities and I discovered several sites advertising guides showing you how to build a wind generator at little cost. Digging further, I found a site that was offering wind generator plans which led you through the whole process with step by step instructions and videos so you can see you’re doing the job right.
After downloading the guide from the Green Power simple internet site I was able to get on with the project. Included in the guide was everything I wished to know on the way to build a wind generator of my own, from how to work out the size of the wind turbine blades that I’d need, where it’s possible to find the materials, check out the wind speeds at my location, and even where to go to find out about presidency rebates that are available for converting to wind power.
What surprised me most about the diy wind power project was how cheap it turned out to be, I spent $100′s and not the $1000′s it would have cost me if I had gone for a ready-made installation.
If, like me, you are looking for ways to cut back your power costs, why not look at carrying out a diy project and build a wind generator for yourself. It’s a great way to save cash and help the environment at the same time.
