Energy sources like coal and oil are very expensive. There is one energy source that will never go away, at least in your lifetime, and is very cheap. It is called the sun. Solar energy is a renewable resource that will seemingly never go away. It is a non-polluting source of free energy. It is not hard to make your own solar panels to capture that free energy.
The main piece for this is going to be a solar panel. You are going to have to find one that is at least sixteen volts. This is the piece that is going to capture the sun. Twelve volts is not going to cut it for your needs. You won’t have too much trouble finding something like this. Just go to an RV dealership for it.
You are going to need a rechargeable battery. You don’t have to get one that is very large. A small one will do just fine for what you are intending it for. A deep cell battery is the kind you are going to need. Twelve volts will work fine.
Protect this battery. It is a main player in making your own solar panels. You will need to make a battery box that will protect this battery. It can be made out of wood. If you have small children, they will be protected from playing with the battery due to the battery box.
Get yourself a DC meter. This meter has to match exactly the volts of the battery. This DC meter needs a DC input. What this does is take the sun’s energy and convert it for your use. Whether you use it for home or a business, the sun will also help lower energy bills.
Attach your DC meter to the top of the battery box with a drill. Make sure you use some insulated wire to connect the meter to the battery. Now, using only one wire at a time, attach the negative end of the battery to the wire. Do the same thing to the DC inlet and solar panel.
To get everything started, put your whole solar panel unit out in the sun for ten hours to start gathering energy from the sun. This is saving the environment, and saving money from your wallet by making your own solar panels.
It is simple and cheap to make your own solar panels if you are able to follow easy steps. Economical and efficient homemade solar panels lower your dependence on the power company.
